definitely use the drill bit to predrill for screws going into the soft thinner boards. Otherwise you'll crack them. Especially on the stairs. the predrilled holes that the manufacturer has on the step boards DO NOT WORK on one set of holes on the treads because there's a manufacturer screw right under it on the stair riser. you'll definitely need to srill a new hole here. The roof line top point needs to have some kind water proof covering. there will definitely be rain water coming in thru there otherwise. this is a slightly better kit than some other competitors. the hardware and hinges are definitely superior. we will be adding an aftermarket slide to replace the front step ladder. its ridiculous to not have that as an option at purchase when it comes on other models with the same basic set up. also windows will need some kind of safety net or chicken wire added if your children are wild and feral like mine. and the bench is perfect height for leaning out the window.

Our son loves this playhouse! We made a slight edit and added a slide where the ladder was. Also had someone from Thumbtack put this together as it would've taken us way too long.

My girls, 3 and 6, love their little house! It was fairly simple to put together for 2 adults, it took most of a day, but that's because our girls also needed us. I would definitely recommend this house to friends or family.

We purchased this several months ago and finally got it put together this month. It is nice but some of the pieces of wood are very soft. I like most of it but with it being up so high the windows need to be smaller or need to have something on them so that children will not fall out of them. We have purchased plexiglass to go in the windows so no child falls out but they can still see out.

When I first opened the boxes and saw all the pieces and hardware I thought itbwas going to be a nightmare to put together- it was just the opposite- every step is carefully laid out with pictures and diagrams of each piece, where it goes, the hardware, and tools needed - it took me about a day and a half to put it together - the finished product looks great and was a wonderful place to enjoy a coffee break with my grandson

We bought this for my soon-to-be 2 year old, it was the perfect size for her & I know will last several years before she'll want/need something bigger. I loved the fact that it has steps instead of just a ladder as well.

Our almost 3 year old daughter...

Our almost 3 year old daughter loves her “clubhouse” and kitchen! My husband assembled in our pole barn and then recruited several other guys to help walk it to its designated location in the yard. He made the bottom a sandpit to maximize the overall functionality of this playset. I ordered a telescope, steering wheel, play phone, and dinner bell and hubby installed once it was staked into the ground. I will say, the windows in the playhouse are plenty low, so my husband had to add some cross bars/additional bracing to ensure our daughter, nieces, or any other future kids cannot easily tumble out of the playhouse. I feel the height of the house itself could be at least a foot higher so if the bottom is made into a sand pit, kiddos aren't always hitting their head when they stand up. Hubby says assembly was fairly self-explanatory but he did have to do some improvising/reinforcement to his liking. Would buy again, great value for the price!

Our daughter absolutely loves thus playhouse. Assembly took about 2 days, though we did take about 2 weeks to separate pieces and paint them prior to assembling. So glad we did, it would have been a nightmare to do it after. We used behr stain and seal. And we added a slide from Amazon which worked out great.

This playhouse is perfect for our two young boys - ages 5 and 2. We added a slide, bucket, bell, and steering wheel. For safety, we also added wiring to cover the windows. The parts shipped quickly and my husband was able to put it together over a weekend.

Great for the kids, 2 and 4 years of age. Added a slide and some other accessories. Could have a little more room but this will not disappoint. The 4 yr old loves the slide but 2 yr old still yet to get there as it is pretty fast. 2 days to put together by myself. Paint or weather proofing will be next. Hope to have several more years of enjoyment.

I've only had it for a couple months. Great little play house so far. Just like others mentioned, it could be a little bigger. My two kids love it though(4yrs & 2yrs). Any more than 2 at a time in the house would be too crowded. I did modify some of the pieces to have a bit more room but all in all, a great playhouse. Also added a 8ft slide as our yard has a slight slant down. Also added a bell and play telescope. Definitely will paint/weatherproof it sooner than later. Just part of having wood as material. I put the playhouse on blocks and leveled it as I put it together. Also purchased trampoline spikes to make sure is stays put. Took basically a full weekend by myself. Pre-drill when you think you need to prevent splitting of wood. It did happen a few times I didn't pre-drill. I think its a great purchase for now and near future as I'm sure they'll grow fast. I'd guess they'll outgrow it in the next 5-7 yrs. In the end, this playhouse will not disappoint if its what your looking for.

My 2 yr old grandson loves...

My 2 yr old grandson loves it. A bit smaller than anticipated. The screws on the risers are right under where you need to screw the steps into their pre-drilled holes so we were only able to put 2 out of 4 screws into each step. Kinda wish the base was made out of 4x4's. Hope it holds up. Only one board was splintered rather deeply, not sure it'll hold up but there's plenty of extra hardware. Wish they sanded it a bit more as we all have received splinters at one point or another. A good polyurethane is needed for protection against weather and splintering. Instructions were easy and was installed in a weekend in 6 hr shifts by a 62 yr old grandma (and a 26 yr old helper for framework). Wood is rather thin. Plastic hinges broke on first use for doors. The screw was too short to hold the plastic on the hinges.

The playhouse is very nice , good quality, stairs and little deck is great. The only negative is, it is so tiny in the house itself. If it were 2 feet bigger on side and back it would be perfect. It says ages up to 8. No way an 8 year old could play in this. I would say 5 at the most. Like I said if the house itself were a little bigger it would be perfect.

Great playhouse for ages 1-5. Older than that it may be too small. Decent quality. Wood is very soft so outdoor it may not last, we're using indoors.

Installed indoors in a church Kid's Area. The kids absolutely LOVE it! Had to pick up locally ourselves but that was far better than waiting 2 weeks for it to be delivered from 30 miles away. Other than shipping delays (which we overcame) the service was excellent!

My kids 3 and 4, love playing in their “fort”. A lot of pretend play, which I love seeing. We added a small slide to the front, but not necessary, as my kids would have loved it either way. Enjoy!

A friend recommended Backyard Discovery and we couldn't be happier with our place it. The kids love it. We installed a slide as well. Installation time was seven hours and the real wood has held up very nicely. We expect many years to come of fun and play.

We really liked the look/design of this playhouse, but the material is very cheap and there were missing parts and many holes drilled in the wrong position (e.g., the steps and risers had holes in positions so that if one side was over the stringer, the other side's holes missed the stringer and two of the risers were too tall and had to be cut down). And, many of the pieces should have been thicker and stronger. We had planned to use go-configure (the manufacturer's recommended installer), but their reviews were so bad, that we ended up building it ourselves. Definitely not with the money or the time spend!

This comes in three very large boxes so if you were picking up in store you need to have an appropriate vehicle. Every item is labeled by letter and number. Every box has a packing slip to refer to. We were not missing one item from our order. The key to this is organization. Separate each piece by alphabetical order in numerical order, and do the same with the accompanying screws and bolts. Once you do this, which takes some time, it goes fairly quickly. Everything was drilled according to plan and we did not have to add any holes. Once assembled it is absolutely adorable and our granddaughters love it! But be prepared, it is time consuming. I would estimate it took the two of us at least 12 hours including time spent organizing materials.

Great size treehouse fort for the...

Great size treehouse fort for the 2-6 crowd. I purchased this for my home daycare and put it inside my playroom. The kids love it! It took about 20 hours to assemble. All parts were numbered, so that definitely helps. It's still a huge task though. We added a slide and removed the ladder. The two large open windows are definitely a fall hazard (hence the 4 stars). This playhouse is aimed/sized for younger kids who will most definitely climb up on the inside bench located right below one window. We added wood trim purchased at Home Depot to create a fall barrier. We also removed the swinging doors after one day. Although cute, the screws kept falling off the hinges with the constant swinging motion. I hung up a couple of puck lights inside as well. My kiddos are having a blast and should enjoy this set for many years.
